How do I export a chat?

WhatsApp: open the chat, tap the name, then Export chat. On Android: ⋮ → More → Export chat. Choose “Attach media” for photos.

Telegram: in Telegram Desktop open the chat, ⋮ → Export chat history, format JSON. Drop the folder or its result.json.

Messenger / Instagram: Settings → Accounts Center → Your information and permissions → Download your information, format JSON. Unzip it, then choose the conversation folder under messages/inbox.

iMessage (Mac): quit Messages. In Finder press ⇧⌘G and go to ~/Library/Messages. Copy chat.db to your Desktop and drop it here. Drop the Attachments folder with it for photos. You then pick the conversation and type the names.

iMessage (iPhone): make an unencrypted backup in Finder or iTunes, open the backup folder and drop the file named 3d0d7e5fb2ce288813306e4d4636395e047a3d28.
